The Race to Atlantis Featured Three legendary Cricketers This Year

Atlantis, the Palm was proud to host the third consecutive Race to Atlantis Invitational tournament last week at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in the run-up to the DP World Tour Championship.

The day started with a Golf Clinic lead by the Swedish Golf Pro and our golf ambassador, Joel Sjöholm. Joel has shared some great tips on how to become a professional golfer with all the participants.

This Year’s Race to Atlantis also paid homage to three Cricket legends. Under the tutelage of Joel Sjöholm, Cricket professionals Kevin Pietersen, Danny Morrison and Dean Jones started working on improving their golf handicaps. After Joel concluded the Golf Clinic, all participants headed to the golf course to start at their respective holes.

The day went by extremely quickly under the lovely autumn sun and magnificent climate in Dubai. In addition to play in the Race to Atlantis, participants also had the chance to challenge golf pro Joel Sjöholm on the fourteenth tee box. The challenge asked the golfers to beat Joel by getting the golf ball closer to the flagstick than he did. Winners received treats such as golf caps.

Another challenge, the hole-in-one challenge, was presented to our participants on hole 2. The prize was a BMW coupe, which was provided by the official sponsors “BMW Middle East”.

The event ended with a unique outdoor cocktail party at Nasimi Beach to announce the winners of the Race to Atlantis Day.

As the Race to Atlantis is the forerunner of the Race to Dubai, Atlantis the Palm will also be the official hotel of the DP World Tour Championship for the sixth consecutive year and will welcome the top 60 players of The European Tour.
